Sting Jump On Huskies Early

The Seneca Sting (5-0) scored three runs in the first inning in defeating the George Brown Huskies (2-4) 5-3 in the first game of their doubleheader.

After defeating the Durham Lords 18-17 in the highest scoring game in OCAA history and a rainout against the Fanshawe Falcons, the Sting were eager to get back on the diamond against their Toronto rival. The Sting quickly jumped on the Huskies as the first five Sting batters reached base. Daniel Perrier drove home Dan Seguin on a bases loaded fielder's choice to open the scoring. One batter later, Joelson Del Rosario scored Cooper Lamb and Perrier on a liner to the gap in right-center.

The Huskies added a run in both the second and third inning with Christian Bachoumis scoring Josh Cipolla on a ground out and Anthony Buonaiuto scoring off a Aiden Colangelo fly out to centerfield.

Jonah Bennis gave the Sting doubled the Sting lead with an RBI double to score Edwin Kim in the fourth inning. Edwin Der Weer later drove Bennis home with a single to left field.

Matt Pasquale added a solo home run in the sixth inning for the Huskies.

Kim was 3-for-3 with a run for the Sting. Seguin was 2-for-4 with a run while Lamb, Del Rosario, Bennis and Jesse Dunn each had a hit.

Buonaiuto, Brandon Nieva and Pasquale had the lone hits for the Huskies. Cipolla and Bachoumis each reached via walks.

Justin Walker picked up the win for the Sting, allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over six innings. Cooper Lamb pitched the seventh inning, striking out the side. David DeCassan allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits and a walk while striking out 2 batters in six innings of work.
