Miller Leads Sting Past Knights

The Seneca Sting responded to their first loss of the season by defeating the Fleming Knights 110-58 to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Dimitri Lim was a focal point for the Sting on offense with starters Jordan Anderson, Isaiah Ankra and Daniel Wright in sweats for the game. Lim scored the game's first basket on a lay up, finding a crease in the Knights' defense before cutting to the basket. The Sting dominated the first half, outscoring the Knights 26-9.

The second quarter was similar to the first as the Sting used great ball movement and consistent shooting to increase their lead to 51-18 at halftime. Lim once again brought the fans out of their seats by hitting a three pointer at the buzzer from eight feet beyond the line. The shot was punctuated by a foul which Lim converted for the four-point play.

With the game already decided, the Sting regularly made substitutions to get everyone more playing time. Jeremiah Brown took advantage of the additional playing time, scoring a season-high 19 points.

Isse Ibrahim brought the crowd to its feet one more time with just over two and half minutes to play. Sitting a point shy of the century mark, Ibrahim dribbled tight to the basket, saw his first shot miss and then grabbed the rebound with a left-handed put back. It was the second home game in as many attempts that the Sting hit the century mark.

Khalil Miller punctuated the final two and a half minutes with a pair of three pointers and a forceful block, kickstarting his campaign for a third straight OCAA East Defensive Player of the Year.

Miller topped the Sting with 20 points. Dakoda Lewis finished with 14 points and Johnny Kitenge, Isse Ibrahim and Shikaeb Rahi Soratgaer each scored 10 points. Ibrahim alos added a game high 12 rebounds.

Romelo Taylor and Wayon Thomas each topped the Knights with 12 points.
