Sting End 3-Match Losing Streak

The Seneca Sting ended a 3-match losing streak, defeating the Georgian Grizzlies in four sets 27-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23.

The win was the first for the Sting in 2019.

A win in the opening set was key for the Sting, who had not led in a match since sweeping La Cite on December 2. Facing set point, the Sting rallied to take a 25-24 lead before the Grizzlies evened up the set. The Sting went on to capture the final two points of the set for the win.

In one of their best performances of the season, the Sting dominated the second set, jumping out to an early lead and winning in convincing fashion.

After dropping the third set, the Sting led for the majority of the fourth set, only to see the Grizzlies even up the score late in the set. The Sting composed themselves and finished off the upset.

Nicole Boyd topped the Sting with 15 kills to go along with 16 digs. Elizabeth Chow finished with 11 kills and 17 digs. Taylor Butcher (6 kills, 18 digs, 6 assists), Gabrielle Wicks (6 kills) and Charis Ho (6 kills) also contributed offensively. Sophia Rios added 15 digs and Gen Potovszky had 33 assists and 14 digs.

Domenica De Francesco had a match-high 20 kills for the Grizzlies to go along with 12 digs. Sophia Clement had 32 assists and 18 digs and Monica Leszynski had 5 kills and 17 digs.
