Shears Powers Sting to CCAA Final

The Seneca Sting punched their ticket to the 2023 CCAA National Championship match on Thursday with a victory in a highly emotional meeting with the Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers.

A goal in the 25’ by Jessica Shears shocked the Cavaliers, giving Seneca the early lead.  She added her second of the match in the 37’ to extend the lead to two.

The powerhouse Cavaliers were stunned as they were unable to solve the Sting defence in the heated second half.

With a red card being issued in the final ten minutes of the match, Seneca was clutch and held on to earn the 2-0 victory.

The 4Imprint Players of the Match were Jessica Shears, from Seneca, and Emilie Grondines, from Champlain Saint-Lambert.

With the victory, the Sting have earned a day-off on Friday and will play in the CCAA National Championship match on Saturday at 4pm.  The Cavaliers will be in action on Friday, playing at 12:30pm in the bronze-medal semi-final match.
