Lamb Walks Off For Sting

Cooper Lamb had a career game, punctuated by a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Seneca Sting (7-0) over the St. Clair Saints (4-2) 4-3.

The first year shortstop had a pair of triples, scored three runs and had two RBIs as the Sting defeated the St. Clair Saints for the first time ever. The scene was set when Joelson Del Rosario, pinch hitting, led off the inning with a walk. Edwin Der Weer hit into a fielder's choice and stood at first base with Lamb coming to the plate with one out. Lamb wasted little time, driving a towering no-doubt shot to left centerfield.

The Saints opened the scoring in the top of the second, scoring a pair of runs. The Sting responded in the bottom of the third when Lamb hit a triple and then scored on a Jordan Blake single through the left infield gap.

The five-time OCAA Champions added to their lead in the top of the fourth before Lamb struck again at the plate. Lamb drove a ball to the deepest part of centerfield, landing at the base of the 390 foot fence. Lamb hustled around the bases, easily stopping at third. Rodney Gilbert drove Lamb home one batter later, hitting a sacrifice fly to right field.

As Lamb rounded the bases following the game-ending shot, the team stormed out of the dugout in celebration.

With water flying in the air, roars and cheers coming from the Sting, it felt like, for the first time in seven years, the Sting belonged at the top of the OCAA standings and in the conversation with the sports' elite teams.
