Sting Drop Final Regular Season Game

The Seneca Sting (10-8) wrapped up the regular season, falling to the Durham Lords (12-6) 7-4.

The Sting opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. Joelson del Rosario led off with a double to left, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and was then driven home on a sacrifice fly by Cooper Lamb.

The Lords added 3 runs in each of the third and fourth innings against just one in the top of the third by the Sting when Rodney Gilbert hit a solo shot over the left field fence.

The Sting pulled within two in the bottom of the fourth when Jake Ruby and Jonah Bennis each cross the plate. Ruby walked and scored on an RBI triple to center field by Bennis. The second year infielder scored one batter later on a sacrifice fly by Dan Seguin.

The Lords added one run in the sixth inning to complete the scoring while the Sting left the tying run at the plate to end the game.

The win was the tenth straight for the Lords who will host the OCAA Championship Friday and Saturday at Kinsmen Stadium in Oshawa.

Del Rosario, Gilbert, Dan Perrier, Ruby and Bennis each recorded a hit for the Sting while Perrier, Jordan Blake and Ruby each reach on a walk.

Sam Cawker and Jake Legros each had 2 hits for the Lords while Griffin Oliver scored a pair of runs. Cawker, Legros and Oliver each had a pair of RBIs for the Lords while Jake Storry reached three times via walks.

Connor May picked up the win for the Lords, allowing 4 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over 4 innings. Austen Jones suffered the loss for the Sting, allowing 7 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits, 4 walks and 2 strikeouts in 4 innings of work.
