Gendron Perfect at Plate in Home Finale

Chantal Gendron was perfect at the plate in the final home game of the season for the Seneca Sting, a 13-1 defeat to the Conestoga Condors.

Known more for her work in the pitcher's circle than for her bat, Gendron, playing her final home game with the Sting was a perfect 2-for-2 for the Sting. Gendron scored the lone run for the Sting in the second inning. Trailing 1-0, Gendron led off the second with a double to center field. Gendron moved to third base on a Melissa Wonfor ground out and then scored two batters later when Katie Potter reached on a fielder's choice.

Fifth year graduate Alik Derderian, also playing her final home game, recorded a two-out single in the fourth inning and was on second base when Gendron scored for the Sting. The game was a celebration and emotional for Derderian who joined the Sting in 2015 having never played the sport before. Through hard work and determination, Derderian became one of the team's strongest batters this season.

Kiara Thomas, Danielle Pound and Grace Michauville each had a hit for the Sting.

The Condors were led by Sarah Lisecki's 4-for-4 performance with 3 runs and a pair of RBIs. Cassey Leader, who tied an OCAA record with 5 hits against the Sting last season went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored. Emily Lush was 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Madeline Sturgeon went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs and 4 RBIs.

Brooklyn Billings pitched all five innings for the Condors, allowing 1 run (0 earned) on 6 hits while striking out 5 batters. Nicole Pearce (2.2 IP, 4 runs, 4 earned, 7 hits, 1 K), Gendron (2.1 IP, 4 runs, 0 earned, 6 hits, 1 K) and Potter (5 runs, 5 earned, 5 hits) each pitched for the Sting.
