Sting Rebound With Win

Sting Rebound With Win

The Seneca Sting rebounded from a loss the previous night to defeat the La Cité Coyotes 101-60.

One night after everything seemed to go wrong for the Sting, the team appeared to shrug off the disappointment in defeating the bottomfeeder of the OCAA East Division.

The Sting started quickly, opening the game on a 7-0 run, and led 10-2 before the Coyotes were able to settle into the game. Despite the quick start, the Sting and Coyotes were tied at the end of the first quarter 16-16.

Looking to play at a quicker pace, the Sting upped their defensive pressure and movement on the offensive side of the ball. The results were a fifteen point halftime lead 56-31 as Khalil Miller led the Sting with fourteen points.

The Sting continued to build on their strong play in the third quarter. With the bench contributing, the Sting extended their lead to eighteen points, outscoring the Coyotoes 50-6 off the bench. It should be noted that the Coyotes were playing shorthanded, dressing just seven players in the game. Through three quarters, eleven of the thirteen Sting players had recorded at lead one field goal.

The fourth quarter saw the Sting show off their offense prowess, scoring 32 points to top the century mark with just over a minute to play on an Aaron Oliveri shot. Just as important was the Sting holding the Coyotes to 13 points in the quarter and just 21 overall in the second half.

Miller led the Sting with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Dakoda Lewis added 13 points. Johnny Kitenge contributed 11 points and 7 assists and Ricky Ricketts finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The Coyotes were topped by Brandon Ramsey who scored 15 points including a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Ulric Kiamba added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Youssef Hmidou had a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with his 8 points.
