Sting Fall Late to Grizzlies

The Seneca Sting (4-2) held a second half lead, but fell short against the Georgian Grizzlies (6-0) 38-27.

The teams traded scores in the opening minutes of the first half. Trailing 7-0, the Sting scored their first try of the match, but failed to convert the kick, a theme that would plague the Sting throughout the match.

Trailing 7-5, kicker David Kavtiashvili went down with an injury as the Sting would go just 1-for-5 on converts as high winds causes problems throughout the match for both sides.

The teams would trade tries in the final moments of the first half as the Grizzlies held a 12-10 lead at halftime.

Playing with a trailing wind, the Sting struck quickly in the second half as Tanaka Mafuse helped the Sting gain a 15-12 lead against the unbeated Grizzlies. The teams once again traded tries before the Grizzlies ended the match on a 21-5 run to clinch the top spot in the OCAA West Division.

The Sting finished second in the OCAA West Division and will host a First Round match up on Saturday, October 26 at 1:00pm at Fletcher's Field against a to-be-determined opponent.
