Sting Advance to OCAA Semi-Final
David Kavtiashvili had 15 points as the Seneca Sting defeated the St. Lawrence Vikings 30-17 to advance to the OCAA Semi-Final.
Kavtiashvili opened the scoring just minutes into the contest with the Sting's first penalty kick of the season. Kavtiashvili followed up with a try to give the Sting an 8-0 lead.
The Vikings answered with a try and convert, but Kavtiashvili struck again with a penalty kick to give the Sting an 11-7 lead.
Levy Konecny responded to a Vikings' try just before halftime to provide the Sting with an 18-12 lead.
With a spot in the semi-final in site, Liam McLaughlin provided the Sting with some breathing room, scoring a try midway through the second half. Owen Schimpl added a try late followed by a Kavtiashvili convert to clinch the victory.
The Vikings added one more try before the final whistle blew.
The Sting will travel to play the Durham Lords on Saturday, November 1 at 1:00pm with a birth in the OCAA Championship match on the line.
