Sting Drop Regular Season Finale
The Seneca Sting fell in their final regular season home game to the Durham Lords 2-0.
Having already locked up the fourth place spot in the OCAA East Division, the Sting rested a number of their regular starters, going with an inexperienced line-up against the reigning OCAA Champions.
The Lords, needing a win or tie to finish second in the division generated a number of scoring opportunities in the first half. Sting goalkeeper Tayjon Campbell was up to the task, making highlight saves including a a point-blank stop to keep the game scoreless just before halftime.
The stalemate was broken in the 78th minute when Jeremy Bangala beat Campbell to give the Lords a 1-0 lead.
Just two minutes later, the Lords were awarded a penalty kick which was converted by Colin Reilly to complete the scoring.
The Sting had five shots on goal on eighteen attempts while the Lords had ten shots on sixteen attempts. Durham held a slight edge in corner kicks, 5-4.
Prior to the game, Alhassan Robah, Alhussein Robah, Khedar Caesar-Thompson and Josh Persaud were recognized as the four will be graduating following the Winter semester.
