Win Streak Hits Five

The Seneca Sting made it five wins in a row tonight after a 62-53 win over the Centennial Colts.

The Sting took a 13-11 lead in the opening quarter and never looked back, never trailing by more than two points all game.

Undefeated since a loss to the Algonquin Thunder on November 13, the Sting led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter and rode a 31-26 advantage into the half. Six quick points to open the third quarter gave the Sting a 37-26 lead before ending the quarter up 48-37.

Efstathia Somos (Athens, Greece) led the Sting with 11 points. Somos also added 5 rebounds in almost 22 minutes of action. Sharife Clarke (Mississauga) added 10 pointsand 7 rebounds. Alcian Satchel (Burlington) was also in double figures with 10 points. Taylor Allicock (Thornhill) had a game-high 11 rebounds while Sarah Givens (Kingston) added 7 assists.

The Colts were led by Sweet Cunanan who had 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Ana Casado added 11 points and 4 steals. Aliyah Campbell-East had 5 rebounds to go with her 9 points.

The Sting (6-2) are back in action on Friday when they travel to Algonquin (7-2) at 6:00pm while the Colts (2-6) travel to Durham (5-4) on Friday at 6:00pm.
