Sting Suffer First Blemish

Sting Suffer First Blemish

The Seneca Sting ended the regular season, suffering their first loss of the season to the Durham Lords 1-0.

Having already clinched the OCAA East Division's top spot, the OCAA Championship hosts rested their top five goal scorers as the team looks to win their first OCAA medal since 2015.

With neither team pressing the action, having both already qualified for the OCAA Championship, few scoring chances were generated early.

The Lords controlled the game's action early and were rewarded in the 29th minute when Madison Haigh scored her fifth goal of the season.

With an undefeated record on the line, the Sting chose to look to the next week, generating just two shots on goal (twelve attempts) as Jenna King recorded the shutout for the Lords.

Raven Edwards-Dowdall made six saves for the Sting with the Lords attempting ten shots. Each team finished with three corner kicks.

Prior to the game, Cathryn De Castro, Megan Robertson, Jocelyne Vasquez, Anjelica Cardarelli, Chantel Cifuentes and Victoria Harvey were recognized having played their final home regular season game in a Sting uniform. The six student-athletes are scheduled to graduate following the Winter semester.
