Sting Advance to Play For Gold

The Seneca Sting exacted revenge on the Humber Hawks, winning 2-1 to advance to the OCAA Championship Gold medal match.

The Hawks had defeated the Sting the previous two seasons in the OCAA Championship semi-final, both times in penalty kicks including last season on the Sting's home turf.

Sona Makulova broke a 1-1 halftime lead with a goal in the 49th minute. With pressure at a season high, the Sting were able to thwart every effort of the Hawks for the equalizer to reach the OCAA Championship Gold medal match for the first time since 2016.

Makulova continued her All-Star season as she scored the first goal for the Sting. Makulova now has 16 goals in 13 matches this season including playoffs.

The Sting are looking for their first OCAA Championship since 2014 and will advance to the CCAA National Championship November 6-9 in Edmonton.
