Sting Finish 5th at CCAA Championship

The Seneca Sting went 1-2 at the CCAA National Championship to finish in fifth place.

Quarter-Final - Seneca vs. VIU
The Sting fell behind early, but evened up the match late in the first half on a goal by Sona Makulova. The Mariners responded with a pair of goals to take a 3-1 lead midway through the second half, but a goal by Faith Metcalfe during injury time gave the Sting some hope. Despite the late pressure, the Sting were unable to secure the equalizer and were relegated to the bronze medal side of the bracket. Korina Lyte was named Player of the Game for the Sting.

Bronze Quarter-Final - Seneca vs. Concordia
Playing against the host Concordia Thunder, Olivia Lamacchia opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Julianna Cellamare provided the Sting with a two goal lead when she scored during injury time to close out the first half. The Thunder cut the Sting lead in half just four minutes into the second half, but the Sting were able to halt any further chances by the Thunder. Makulova scored her second of the championship during stoppage time to provide the Sting with some breathing room in a 3-1 win. Alessia Da Silva was named Player of the Game for the Sting.

Bronze Semi-Final - Seneca vs. Fanshawe
In a rematch of the OCAA Championship, the Sting fell by the same 2-0 score, unable to garner much offense in the cold and snowy conditions. Sona Makulova was named Player of the Game for the Sting.

5th/6th Placement - Seneca vs. NAIT
Due to cold temperatures and heavy snowfall, the 5th/6th and 7th/8th placement matches were cancelled so that the medal games could be moved earlier in the day before the severe weather hit Edmonton.
