Sting Open Second Half with Sweep

The Women's Volleyball (6-5) team moved back above .500 on the season with a three set sweep over the Georgian Grizzlies (5-6) to open the second half.

The Sting dominated the opening set 25-18 and, after a shaky finish to the second set which saw the Sting win 28-26, positioned themselves for the sweep.

Up 2-0, the Sting distanced themselves from the Grizzlies late in the third set to win 25-21 and move into the sixth and final playoff spot one game into the second semester.

Nicole Mironov (Toronto) led the Sting with 17 points thanks to a match-high 14 kills. Lauren Watt (Barrie) added 8 kills and Nicole Boyd (Cambridge) scored with 6 kills. Jahneisha Stephenson (Scarborough) added to her league lead with 17 digs while Paulynne Reyes (Edmonton) contributed 32 assists. Boyd also added 15 digs for the Sting.

Brittany Coughlin topped the Grizzlies with 7 kills and 11 digs while Katharyn Avery added 12 assists. Quinn McGregor finished the match with 6 kills and 7 digs.

The Sting travel to Canadore this Saturday to face the top-seeded Panthers (11-1) at 1:00pm while the Grizzlies host the Centennial Colts (1-10) Saturday, also at 1:00pm.
