Sting Sweep Coyotes

The Seneca Sting rebounded from a loss last night, sweeping the La Cité Coyotes to get back to .500 on the season.

The Sting dominated the Coyotes from the opening serve, taking the first set in convincing fashion 25-15.

The second and third sets mirrored each other as the Sting won both 25-19.

Team block, ace and dig totals showed how evenly matched the two teams were, but it was the offensive play at the net which was the key in determining the winner. The Sting carried a 38-22 advantage in team kills.

Victoria Wensley (Saskatoon) topped the Sting with 11 kills and 5 digs. Nicole Boyd (Cambridge) added 9 kills and 4 digs. Paulynne Reyes (Edmonton) had 33 assists, 3 aces and 11 digs. Jahneisha Stephenson (Scarborough) had a match-high 26 digs.

Stephanie Peladeau topped the Coyotes with 7 kills. Annie Meloche and Tanya Carriere each added 5 kills while Meloche added 11 digs to Carriere's 10. Talia Collin-Demers finished with 21 assists, 3 aces and 11 digs.

The Sting (7-7) return to the court next Friday, January 29 when they host the Centennial Colts (1-13) at 6:00pm. The Coyotes (4-10) travel to play the Colts tomorrow at 1:00pm.
