Sting Swept By Lancers

Sting Swept By Lancers

The Seneca Sting fell to the Loyalist Lancers in straight sets 25-23, 25-22, 27-25 to complete their first semester home schedule.

The Sting battled in each of the three sets against a Lancers team who topped the OCAA East Division last season.

The match started off on a low for the Sting, surrendering a pair of aces as the Sting fell behind 3-0. The home side battled back, pushing the Lancers to the brink before surrendering the final two points of the opening set.

The second set saw the teams swing the momentum to each side throughout with neither able to generate a comfortable lead. It was once again the Lancers coming out on top as they pulled away from the Sting late, culminating in a missed serve to end the set.

The Sting started strong in the third set, leading 11-5 which led to a Lancers' timeout. The Lancers responded out of the timeout, putting together five straight points to get back into the set. Trailing 24-23, the Sting won a lengthy rally, finishing it off with a kill to re-energize the crowd late. The Lancers would take the final two points though to end the match.
