The Sports Centre Operations staff assist with general operation of the Sports Centre (Newnham Campus) including the Ice Arena, Gymnasium, Field, Outdoor Courts, Fitness Centre, special event set-up and tear down as well as general facility maintenance, repairs and cleanliness.

Hours                                                                                                                                                   

•    The majority of the shifts are 3:00pm to 11:30pm, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

 

Salary:

Head Coach, Women’s Softball

(Part-Time Position)

 

The Head Coach is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the technical, tactical and physical curriculum which prepares the student athlete for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA)).  This is a part-time position which requires some weekday day time and evening hours, as well as weekends.

Duties:                                                                                                                                                                                                   _______

¨       Develop the overall athletic plans (long range to daily practice plans), to maximize player and team development

¨       Preparation of offensive and defensive strategies and systems

¨       Identification and recruitment of quality student athletes

¨       Must support and mentor the values of excellence in academics and athletics, character development and leadership

¨       Maintain effective communications and administrative systems amongst coaches, players, athletic and facility staff

¨       Must work collaboratively in a large athletics and recreation department consisting of 16 varsity programs and extensive recreation programming

¨       Complete adherence to and support of OCAA, CCAACCAA and Seneca policies and procedures

¨       Organization and delivery of  a competitive club softball tournament and/or clinic  in conjunction with athletic staff

¨       Supervision of team on all road trips

 

General Aspects of Seneca’s Program:                                                                                            _____________________

¨       The competitive season begins in mid-August and runs through to October; with National Provincial Championships in late October. The team practicestwo to threetimes a week (2 hours/practice)and participates in daily fitness programs

¨       Seneca competes within the OCAA league and plays an exhibition schedule of games and tournaments (approximately 30 total games)

¨       Support personnel includesa minimum of 1-2 assistant coach(es) and a team therapist who is present at practices and games

¨            The Indoor season beginstryouts in January, followed by a series of exhibition tournaments and  regional qualifying tournaments that culminate in the OCAA Championships in late March.

 

Criteria:                                                                                                                                                                                 ______________

¨       The Head Coach must be of good character and have demonstrated a high caliber of leadership, sportsmanship and coaching performance

¨       Have good relations with club ssoftball coaches for the purpose of recruitment

¨            Have a minimum of five years of coaching experience with 16 to 25 year olds

¨        

¨       Hold a minimum of NCCP Level I practical, technical and theoryHold, or be working towards, Competition-Introduction Softball/Level 2 coaching certification equivalent

¨            Holding a B soccer coaching license is preferable

¨       Have exceptional interpersonal communication skills, sound administrative skills, strong motivational abilities and a commitment to fair play

¨       Must be eligible to work in Canada
