Mohammad Steps Down

The Seneca Sting have announced that Azam Mohammad has stepped down as Badminton head coach after one season with the team.

A former student-athlete with the Sting, Mohammad finish fourth in Men’s Doubles at the 2017 CCAA Badminton National Championship along with partner Raman Kumar. Following being named the Male Sting 360 recipient for the Seneca Sting for his display of Character, Leadership and Excellence, Mohammad was named head coach.

Under Mohammad’s leadership, the Sting were represented in three divisions at the OCAA Championship including a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles (Lin Qi/Vinson Wong).

John Sharpe, Manager of Athletics and Recreation had high praise for Mohammad’s positive impact on the Sting in his two years.

“Azam committed his time and passion to Seneca this past year as a coach and the previous year as an athlete. We thank him for his dedication to Seneca and the program. We are parting as friends and thank Azam for the impact he has had on our program. We are proud to call Azam a Senecan.”

The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
