Early Deficit Too Much to Overcome

The Seneca Sting fell behind early to the Fanshawe Falcons, dropping the opening game of the season 8-3.

Opening the season on the road at Fanshawe, the Sting surrendered four runs in first inning followed by a pair of runs in the second inning to fall behind 6-0.

The Sting bats struggled to make contact against Falcons pitcher Morgan Lowry. The Falcons' ace struck out 15 batters in the game while surrendering just three hits.

Trailing 8-0, the Sting scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Caity Allen doubled to centre field to score Taylor Richer. River Johnston also singled in the inning to score both Anyssa Hill and Allen to cap the scoring for the Sting.

Allen, Johnston and Avery Thomson recorded one hit apiece for the Sting while Taylor Stewart and Richer each reached base via walks.

Alyssa Van Der Werf suffered the loss, allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits while striking out one batter in three innings. Stewart came on in relief, allowing one run (one earned) on five hits in three innings.
