Sting Lose on Second Straight Walk-Off

For the second consecutive game, the Seneca Sting lost on the final pitch, falling to the Durham Lords 10-9.

For the first five innings, it looked like the Lords would win in a blowout. The Lords led 7-1 and the Sting hadn't recorded their first hit until the fourth inning.

The Sting bats continued to work counts again Lords starter Jackson Painter, forcing a pitching change early in the top of the sixth inning. The end result was a five-run inning, highlighted by a bases loaded double by AJ Rowe which scored three runs to pull the Sting within one run.

The Lords responded with a run in the bottom half of the sixth inning, but the Sting continued to fight back, scoring three runs to take a 9-8 lead. A wild pitch scored Evan Bolieau to pull the Sting within one before Austin Hagerman tripled, scoring Roberto Pagliero and Eric Baker.

In an eerily similar situation to the first game of their double header, the Lords tied the game and then walked off on a fielder's choice, scoring Corey Stewart.

The Lords continued their aggressive play on the bases, stealing six in the game after recording 14 as a team in the opener.

Rowe paced the Sting at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs while Hagerman was 2-for-3 with a run, three RBIs and a walk. Baker also had a pair of hits and both Bolieau and Pagliero scored twice.

Hagerman took the loss for the Sting, allowing five runs (five earned) on five hits, three walks and four strikeouts in 2.1 innings. Starter Matthew Scarcello pitched four innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
