Sting Suffer Another Late Inning Collapse

The Seneca Sting led late for the second consecutive game, but suffered another collapse late, falling to the Durham Lords 14-9.

One game after allowing seven runs in the sixth inning of a 1-0 game the Sting were leading, the Sting once again saw themselves leading as the game approached the later innings. Leading 8-5, the Sting surrendered six runs in the fifth inning and three in the six inning.

Durham's Grace Hearns was the achilles heal for the Sting. The Lords' catcher went 5-for-5 with five RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Hearns' sidekick Jocelyn Shelton also provided four RBIs on two hits.

Jaidyn Wandelt was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Sting with a run scored and three RBIs. Caity Allen had a pair of hits and runs while batting home one. River Johnston also had an RBI and run while going 2-for-2 at the plate.

Alyssa Van Der Werf took the loss for the Sting, allowing 11 runs (11 earned) on 14 hits while walking two and striking out two. Taylor Stewart allowed three runs (three earned) on three hits with one strikeout in a single inning of work.
