Early Goal Dooms Sting

The Capilano Blues' goal in the 4th minute was all the scoring as the Seneca Sting fell 1-0 in the CCAA National Championship Bronze Medal Semi-Final.

The Blues opened the scoring in the fourth minute on a similar goal to what ended the Sting's attempt at a repeat championship. Off a corner, the Blues outlept the Sting defenders and headed a ball past Christina Diaco in goal.

Short leading scorer Marlene Siwula due to injury, the Sting were unable to generate much offense in the opening half.

The second half saw the Sting make a push from the initial touch. Alexis Cordeiro was pulled down in the penalty area and awarded a penalty kick, but the second year was unable to convert on the opportunity in the 51st minute as her attempt to the right side of the goal was stopped.

In the 53rd minute, the Sting were awarded a free kick from just outside the box, but Francesca Famele's attempt was stopped once again by the Capilano goalkeeper.

The Blues turned the field possession to their advantage and earned a corner kick in the 56th minute. The attempt found a Capilano player in front, but their attempt was stopped by Bianca Morra on the goal line to keep the Sting within one.

The Sting were unable to create any further serious scoring chances and saw their CCAA National Championship and 2024 season come to an end.

Christina Diaco was named Player of the Match for the Sting.
