Highlights from the gold medal game of the 2023 OCAA Women’s Soccer Championship between the Seneca Sting and the Humber Hawks. The Hawks had a quick start when Emily Robitaille scored a goal in the 20th minute off a corner kick to put Humber up 1-0. The Sting struck back in the 32nd minute when Jessica Shears from a nice free kick play scored to tie the game up 1-1. Right before the half Kayla Uddenberg scored from just outside the box to put the Sting up 2-1. A big change in the game came when Emily Robitaille from Humber was sent off after receiving her second yellow card of the match. The Sting capitalized and found a much-needed insurance goal when Yoana Peralta Fernandez scored in the 76th minute to give the Sting a 3-1 lead. The Sting won the game 3-1 and are the 2023 OCAA Women’s Soccer Champions. Yoana Peralta Fernandez was named the player of the match for Seneca. Jessica Shears & Carley Uddenberg were named to the tournament All-Star Team. Rebekah Lee was the 2023 OCAA Women’s Soccer Championship MVP.
